How to Create a Buzz About Your Book

So you have written your first book. It is in print and now you are unsure of what to do next. Maybe you are having difficulty selling your books. You can change that. There are a lot of ways to create a buzz about your book so that others cannot wait to get their hands on it to read it. It does take some work, but it is worth it when the money comes in.

Instructions

    • 1

Be excited about your book. Think about it, if you are not excited about your book, no one else will be either. Talk about it with your friends and strangers you meet in the store. Carry a copy with you everywhere you go and show it to everyone.

    • 2

Do book signings. Offer to have book signings anywhere people read books. Have book signings at bookstores, but also have them at libraries or after speaking engagements.

    • 3

Develop a website. Allow people easy access to buy the book online, especially for people that do not live near you. Send an email to everyone in your contacts list. Make the email advertisement exciting and enjoyable to read. Encourage your friends to forward the email to everyone they know. Make sure to include all pertinent information, including a link to your website, as to purchasing your book. Do not frustrate a potential buyer by making things difficult. Make it easy for them to buy your book.

    • 4

Ask local bookstores to carry it. Create posters that owners can put in their store windows to promote and advertise your book. Leave autographed copies with the stores.

    • 5

Make up bookmarks for the local stores to give away to all their customers that make purchases. Make sure to give them plenty of bookmarks.

    • 6

Offer discounted books to reading groups. Keep in mind that reading groups and book clubs often have several people. This not only helps you sell several books, it helps people talk about your book.

    • 7

Sign up for a blog tour to review your book, which sends out emails to literally hundreds of people each week. Keep in mind that good reviews encourage people to go out and buy your book.

    • 8

Reach a broader audience and see if newspapers and magazines will write reviews of your book and offer information as to where to purchase to the book.

    • 9

Buy an advertising spot on the radio. Use your writing skills to promote your book. Have someone else read it, but you can do the actual writing so that all the information you want is in the advertisement.
