Since she published "A Hustler's Wife" in 2003, Turner has published eight other novels: "A Project Chick" (2003); "The Glamorous Life" (2005); "Riding Dirty on I-95" (2006); "Forever A Hustler's Wife" (2007--a sequel to her debut novel); "Black Widow" (2008); "Ghetto Superstar" (2008); "Relapse" (2009); and "Natural Born Hustler" (2010). In these novels, Turner writes about contemporary urban African Americans as they deal with romantic relationships, crime, poverty and institutional racism. Her prose is notable for its use of up-to-date black slang, knowledge of street fashion and music, and dramatic, often violent plots.
In addition to her own novels, Turner co-wrote "Death Before Dishonor" in 2007 with the rapper 50 Cent. This African-American novel was published under 50 Cent's publishing imprint, G-Unit Books. In 2004, Turner co-wrote the novel "Girls from Da Hood" with Chunichi and Roy Glenn. "Girls from Da Hood 2," published in 2005, was co-written with Kashamba Williams and Joy. In 2006, Turner contributed to the essay collection, "Street Chronicles: Tales from Da Hood," which Turner edited.
In addition to "Street Chronicles: Tales from Da Hood," Turner has edited two further collections of the "Street Chronicles" series--"Christmas in Da Hood" (2007) and "Girls in the Game" (2007).
Turner formed her own publishing company, Nikki Turner Presents, in 2006. The imprint publishes novels. The company's books include the following: "Gorilla Black" (2007) by Seven, "Against the Grain" (2008) by Freeze, and "Numbers" (2009) by Dana Dane.
