Geoffrey Ernest Troutbeck (5 February 1909 – 9 October 1975),[1] who wrote as G. E. Troutbeck (pronounced "Trout"), was a South African novelist.

As Troutbeck he mainly wrote detective novels, of which 39 feature Detective-Superintendent Jeff Davis of the South African Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID), including "Too Long Endured" (1965).

Other novels include "Men of Power" (1977); "Silent Bullet" (1965); "The Tight Corner" (1962) - first of The Tight Corner trilogy ("Tight Spot" (1974) & "Tight Squeeze" (1972)) ; "When Lightning Struck" (1964); and "Last Flight" (1969)**.
