Martha V. Gellhorn, (1908-1998) was an American journalist, war correspondent, and author who wrote from the frontlines of some of the major conflicts of the 20th century with a long career in journalism that spanned six decades. She wrote on many political and social issues; her subjects included the Spanish Civil War, the rise of fascism in Europe, the Second World War, the Vietnam War, racism in the American South, and the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
