What type of shelter does an alligator have?

An alligator's shelter is called a den or a burrow. Alligators dig these shelters in the banks of rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water. Dens and burrows provide alligators with a place to hide from predators, rest, and regulate their body temperature. Alligators typically挖their dens during the summer months, and they will return to the same den year after year. Dens and burrows can vary in size, depending on the size of the alligator.
