Cut 12 pieces of wire, all 8 inches long.
Set aside four of the wires to make the claws, inner body, and tail of the scorpion, and eight of the wires to make the legs and the outer body.
Using the pile of eight wires, bend a small loop in the center of each wire by pulling the ends of each wire toward each other until they cross over and pass one another. These must all loop in the same direction.
Take one of the wires from the pile of four and place it through each of the eight loops, making sure the looped wires all face the same direction. Repeat this step for all four of the straight wires.
Push the looped wires tightly together to the middle of the bundle of four wires, and turn the wire bundle so that the loops face upward.
Pull the wire at the top right down and over the loops until it is beneath the bottom left wire, and continue to wrap this wire around the back of the wire bundle until it comes out beneath the bottom right wire.
Pull the wire at the top left down and over the loops until it is beneath the bottom right wire, and continue to wrap this wire around the back of the wire bundle until it comes out beneath the bottom left wire.
Repeat steps 6 and 7 for each of the six remaining looped wires. This creates the torso for the scorpion sculpture.
Flip over the wire bundle, and separate the eight wires on each side of the bundle by pulling them slightly apart from each other.
Take the two bottom wires on the right side of the bundle and twist them together tightly in a corkscrewing motion. Take the two bottom wires on the left side of the bundle and twist them together. Repeat this step for the rest of the wires, consecutively. This creates the legs of the scorpion.
Separate the top four wires of the bundle by pulling them apart.
Take two of the four wires and twist them tightly together in a corkscrewing motion for one-third of their length. Take the other two wires and do the same.
Flip the sculpture over to its other end; take the wire farthest to the right of the four wires and wrap it around the bundle of the other three, wrapping repeatedly until there is no more wire. Take the next wire in the bundle and wrap it around the remaining two wires, starting where the last wrapped wire stopped.
Bend the bottom left remaining wire into a crescent moon shape one-third of its length away from the wrapped wires. Where this wire intersects with the other wire, twist them together twice to create the scorpion's stinger.
Flip the scorpion sculpture over to the two sets of twisted-together wires. Clip one-third of their length from the tops of each of the four wires to make the scorpion's claws. Bend each of the two wires toward each other to make the claws.
Use the wire cutters to clip off the excess wire from the eight legs of your sculpture, and bend each leg in half to create the scorpion's knees.
Bend the tail of the scorpion upward over the scorpion's spine, and use the wire cutter to trim excess wire from the stinger.
