Lay the book on a flat table. A book with a hardcover works the best because it stays open by itself easier. The book can have personal meaning or be one that was packed away in the attic.
Experiment with different folds. The fold will be repeated through part or all of the book. Make sure you are confident of the design you make, because it will be more work to unfold all of the pages and start again the further into the project you get. Consider making an image that has meaning to the book itself. For example, if using "The Fountainhead" you can try to fold the paper into a simple image resembling a fountain.
Start folding at one end of the book. You may choose to leave the first couple of pages unfolded, depending on the intended design. Use a bone folder -- a simple oblong tool available from art supply stores -- to help make quicker, more precise folds. You can fold to the halfway point and start again from the other end of the book, or you can do different designs in the middle.
Observe the finished product and re-fold any pages that stick out of place.
Adorn the sculpture on the wall with a plate hanger or use it as a centerpiece at the dinner table.
