Determine a shape for your papier mache sculpture. Decide upon a shape and list the objects in your house that resemble that shape.
Blow up a balloon to make a round papier mache sculpture. Delicately glue the strips of paper onto your mold. Do not be rough because the balloon is delicate. You may pop the balloon after the glue and paper have dried, but take care not to compromise the mold while you are still building a shape around it.
Use malleable wire to fashion an shape with angles. A wire coat hanger will work. Heat the wire slightly (submerge in boiling water or let the wire sit on a heater) until it is easier to work with. Create the shape you would like your sculpture to take. To make this three dimensional, use multiple wires. Use masking tape to dull the angles or create a flat surface between two wires. For example, if you wish to make a bowl, fashion the two wire circles, on larger (for the mouth of the bowl) one smaller (for the base). Connect the two circles with four pieces of wire evenly spaced. Create a flat surface on which you can glue strips of paper by connecting all the wires with tape.
Use a glass soda bottle to create a papier mache vase. This is this simplest mold to use since it is already formed. Simply paste the paper strips over the entire bottle and continue until the bottle is fully covered.
