Whose head is on the sphinx?

The head of the Great Sphinx of Giza is believed to be modeled after Pharaoh Khafre, who ruled Egypt during the Fourth Dynasty.

While the exact purpose of the Sphinx remains a mystery, it is generally accepted that it was built during Khafre's reign. The facial features strongly resemble those of his statues found in other monuments, and some scholars believe that the Sphinx was initially depicted as a lion, with Khafre's head added later.

However, the Sphinx has been eroded and weathered over thousands of years, making it difficult to confirm this definitively.
