School Locker Decorating Tips

Back to school time for any student is an exciting experience. Many shop with their parents to find new clothes and school supplies. Another great way to stand out is by decorating your locker. You spend a lot of time at your locker exchanging books and bags between classes. Your locker should be decorated to reflect your personality and style. Locker decorating doesn't have to be expensive. So when you're purchasing that new skirt and brightly colored folders, remember to pick up some style and personality for your locker!
  1. Brightly Colored Contact Paper

    • Purchasing a roll of brightly colored contact paper is perfect for decorating the inside door of your locker. Contact paper can be found at any home or office store, and comes in a variety of colors and designs. You simply cut the paper to fit inside your locker door, peel off the back, and stick it on. Chances are you'll have extra paper remaining after you're through decorating; offer the rest to nearby locker-mates. It's a good way to make friends, too!

    Magnets

    • Magnets are also easy to find and come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Instead of using magnets in the traditional way of hanging your school papers from them, make interesting designs using a variety of fun magnets.

    Mirrors

    • A mirror is an essential locker decoration. Having a mirror in your locker prevents you from having to run down the hall to the bathroom just to make sure there's nothing stuck in your teeth! Buy a small mirror and stick it to the door of your locker using electrical tape or a plain black magnet with a sticky back. Create an original border around your mirror by using colorful paint pens.

    Photograph Collage

    • Let's face it, sometimes school really makes you miss summer vacation. Make a collage of your favorite summer memories and hang it from the inside of your locker. You can hang your coat behind it and keep the collage on display.

    Organizing Shelves and Dividers

    • All right, this one sounds boring. But, purchasing some locker shelves in various colors can keep all your books and papers organized by subject. This way, your friends can focus on how cool your locker looks, not how messy it is! Another great tip is to buy a colorful plastic magazine holder and insert it on the top shelf of your locker. Designate this shelf for your spiral notebooks, and you'll always be able to find them.

    More Tips

    • Because you're going to spend a lot of time in your locker this year, make sure your decorating theme reflects your true personality. Everyone gets shy sometimes and has a hard time explaining who they are, but having a unique locker that showcases your interests is a great way to start off a new school year. Have fun!
