How to Make Your Own Writing Stationery

Computer programs have made it easy to personalize items like stationery. What was once a tough item to make on your own can be put together with a computer graphics program. The stationery can be used for any kind of personal, non-official letter.

      Download free wallpaper or images for a background, or use a photo already saved to the computer. Save the wallpaper image to the desktop.

      Open Microsoft Works and click on "Programs" and "Blank Word Processor Document."

      Click "Insert" and choose "Watermark." Click on "Picture Watermark," then "Select Picture" to upload the image for the stationery background. Resize the image if necessary using an online-image editor or the Microsoft editing tools.

      Choose a size and position for the image background. Check the box for "tile picture" if you want the image to be tiled. Click "OK."

      Click on the drop down menu at the top left side of the document to choose text color and letter size. Add text and adjust the size of the side lines to size 14 or 12. Select a color for the stationery lines. Press the shift and lower case buttons together to create the lines.

      Give the stationery a name and save it to a document folder.
