Create the design you want to transfer onto skin. When creating the design, keep in mind which part of the body it is intended to go on, and shape it accordingly. Save the design in the exact size you want it to be when it is transferred. If you do not want to create your own design, go to one of the many websites that offer free tattoo designs, such as the one in the Resource section.
Buy some tattoo paper for your printer. Make sure that you get the right kind of paper for your printer---both inkjet and laser tattoo paper is available.
Print your design. When you click on "Print," open up the "Properties" option and select "Mirror Printing." This is especially important if you have letters that you want to transfer to skin. The letters will be backward if you do not select mirror printing. This issue also arises with designs that must face a particular way to be correct, such as flags.
Wash the area of skin you want to transfer the printer ink to and dry well. If the area you will be applying the printer ink to is hairy, shave first.
Apply the adhesive backing that comes with the tattoo paper to your printed design and cut it out. Apply the printed ink tattoo to your skin according to the paper manufacturer's instructions. With care, many of these temporary tattoos will last up to one week.
