How to Make Foam Animals in Art

Foam animals are an ideal project for a child and an adult. They are colorful decorations and toys that kids will enjoy for a long time. In the classroom, they will teach young students about the different types of animals who live in forests and jungles. Place them on project boards and surround them with landscapes that depict the areas where each one lives. Foam animals are created from two different colored sheets of art foam.

Instructions

    • 1

Trace the shape of an animal like a lion or dog onto the yellow sheet of foam. Use your magic marker for this step.

    • 2

Cut out the animal shape with scissors. Then place it on the black sheet of foam.

    • 3

Trace around the animal shape on the black foam using a stick of white or colored chalk. Cut out the traced pattern on the outside edge of the chalk line with a pair of scissors.

    • 4

Apply glue to the back of the yellow foam animal form and set it on the black form so the patterns line up. Let dry for about an hour.

    • 5

Decorate the face of the animal. Draw a nose, mouth and eyes on the yellow foam with a magic marker to add a face and additional features to your animal.
