How to Copyright Jewelry

Designing and creating jewelry is very much an art form. Jewelry designers are often interested in copyrighting their designs so other jewelers can't copy their work and sell it as their own. A jewelry design can be copyrighted as a "Work of the Visual Arts" through the U.S. Copyright Office. You don't need to meet with anyone in person or even leave your house, because a legal copyright for your jewelry design can be obtained online.

Instructions

Go to the U.S. Copyright Office website (www.copyright.gov) and click on the "Register Online" link. Then click on the "Electronic Copyright Office" link. Click on "Continue to eCO."
