Create a digital file of your artwork by photographing the piece of art in natural, indirect light. Start with a quality photograph in natural lighting to save yourself hours of editing later. Photograph your artwork next to a brightly-lit window or take it outside on an overcast day. Avoid using your camera's flash.
Take the photo from a "straight-on" angle or lay the artwork down on a flat surface and shoot the photo from above.
Download the image to your computer. Open the digital file in a photo-editing program. Place the original artwork close to your monitor for reference.
Crop the photo so that only the artwork is visible. The background should not show. Adjust the colors, brightness and contrast if needed. The digital version of the artwork should be straight. Use this opportunity to digitally adjust any other aspects of the artwork as well.
Choose an online print-on-demand service and upload your file. Some companies offer specialty prints on canvas, metallic paper, slides or silver-halide papers. The giclee fine art print is also a popular choice.
Select the paper, size and finish for your final prints. Expect to receive your prints in 7-10 days.
