Where to Find Used Framed Artwork

A blank wall in any home benefits from the addition of a fine piece of art. By buying used artwork and scouring the secondary art market, furnishing a house or office does not have to break the bank.
  1. Online

    • More galleries are offering used art on consignment, with larger websites like www.markettwo.com, emerging as a resale venue for artists and art owners. Existing auction sites such as Ebay, or listing sites like Craigslist also offer a small variety of items. By searching online, good buys can be located anywhere in the nation then shipped to the buyer's door.

    Newspapers

    • For bargain hunters preferring to preview art in person, picking up a copy of the local newspaper is a great idea. This offers the opportunity to see not only what is available in the classified section, but also search through a listing of area garage sales. Dedicating a weekend to searching through neighbor's unwanted art pieces could turn up a gem, at dirt cheap prices.

    Rummage Stores

    • Second-hand , and thrift stores as well, as antique shops offer varying styles of used artwork. The 2007 incident of a painting purchased at a thrift store, which Teri Horton later claimed to be the work of well known artist Jackson Pollock, through rare, may fuel the desire to head to the local rummage shop. Yet even an unknown artist can add hominess to a house, and used art treasures are waiting to be found for those with patience and a good eye.
