Centering your title is key. Mark the middle spot on your board with a small dot. Now count the characters in your title and write the same number of characters before and after your dot. Don't forget spaces and punctuation count as characters. Also, be creative and use font to reiterate your poster's theme; for example, use frilly, cursive writing for a Valentine's Day poster.
Knowing what colors are most appealing can give your poster prime visibility. Certain color combinations may seem like a good idea when in actuality, they are harder to read for the eye. Black lettering on a yellow background is the most visible; red words on a green backing is the least visible. Also, use no more than two main colors to keep your poster clean and polished.
Creative elements that don't overpower your text can add quality and impact to your poster. Backgrounds such as borders, glitter and background images should add life to your project but not compete with the message. Some ideas for artistic touches include aluminum foil, colored plastic wrap and enlarged photographs or maps.
