Ideas for Slideshows

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then think how verbose a slideshow can be. Slideshows are a chance to illustrate that which cannot be captured by words. Whether they are celebrating people, places, expression or experience, slideshows help to convey what might go unspoken. Ideas for slideshows can help show the world what you see.
  1. Retrospective

    • A slideshow can be used to honor either a person's life and achievements or an organization's growth and accomplishments. Begin the slideshow with the earliest photographs of either the person or organization that you are celebrating. If singling out one person, then begin with childhood photos, and include photos from important events, like high school and college graduation, military service, marriage, and business and social events. If highlighting an organization, include some background photos of the founders, the beginning of the organization itself, and its growth through the years. Also, a retrospective slideshow would be good for annual events of clubs, since it could highlight individual years.

    Artistic

    • For a photographer, a slideshow can be an efficient and optimal way to showcase your work. As a suggestion, group your photos either by subject, genre or colors. For example, if you have a great deal of wildlife shots, you would want to group them together; though if you had pictures of a tropical bird and a sunset that showcased the same hues and contrast, then you might want to pair them together for further artistic expression. Photographs are not the only art that can be used in a slideshow; convert other media, like portraits and etchings, to digital media to also showcase them.

    Vacation

    • Who hasn't been a victim of a vacation slideshow? Well, for the good news, your vacation slideshow doesn't have to be like the others that you have had to endure. Select key points of the trip and the livelier photographs to display; no one wants to see 20 slides of you filling up the gas tank. Examples of more engaging and entertaining pictures would be the grand sights that you saw, locals you met and adventures you had. Accompanying the slideshow with crowd-pleasing music that captures the spirit and mood of the trip will help energize the presentation.
