Instruct your children to paint the paper plates with a design of their choice on both sides.
Put the plates to one side and allow to dry for an hour.
Instruct your kids to paint the plastic cutlery with silver paint. Make sure they cover all of the cutlery and put to one side to dry.
Make three holes with the pencil around the perimeter of each paper plate and as many holes in the center as you have cutlery for each wind chime.
Cut three pieces of string around 10 inches long and tie a knot at one end of each of them for each plate.
Feed the unknotted end of string through the holes around the perimeter of each plate and tie them together.
Make a hole at the end of the handle of each piece of cutlery with sharp scissors that is wide enough to accommodate the girth of your string.
Cut a piece of string around 8 inches long for each piece of cutlery and tie a knot at the end of each of them.
Ask your children to thread the end of the string through the holes you've made in the cutlery and then through the holes in the center of their plate.
Tie a knot in the end of the string that has been passed through the plate to secure it in place.
Hang the wind chimes outside.
