Instructions

    • 1

Pour turpentine into a pail. The turpentine will serve as your oil stain's foundation.

    • 2

Add linseed oil to the mixture. You should use approximately half as much linseed oil as turpentine. It will work to bind the oil stain's pigmentation.

    • 3

Pour two or three oz. of Japan drier into the pail. This material will accelerate the process of drying your oil stain.

    • 4

Add four oz. maximum of Japan colors to create the pigmentation you want on your oil stain. Experiment with the colors prior to adding them to the mixture so you know exactly what color you want to use.

    • 5

Stir all the ingredients together with a wooden stick.

    • 6

Apply the oil stain mixture to your chosen surface using a roller or a paintbrush.
