How to Build a Sign Holder

A sign holder can be the most effective way to advertise or communicate a message to the public. The sign holder you make depends on how heavy and big your sign is. Basic household items can be used to create your sign holder. You can customize the holder with paint or fabric to liven it up. It will take approximately 30 minutes to design and make your own sign holder.

Instructions

  1. Wire Holders

    • 1

Unwind a standard wire hanger until it's relatively straight.

    • 2

Bend your wire's bottom third to form an "L" shape. Bend the bottom part of the "L" into a circle. This circle will be your sign holder's base.

    • 3

Bend the top of the "L" into a circle. Bend each side of the circle so that it will lightly pinch the paper securely when the paper is placed inside. The paper sign will rest in the top circle.

    • 4

Put a paperweight onto the bottom, base circle.

    Carrot Sign Holder

    • 5

Use a carrot to hold a place card sign at a dinner party. Cut off the carrot`s bottom two inches.

    • 6

Cut out a slit down the center of the carrot from the top to create the stand. The holder will be supported by the base of the carrot that you cut in Step 1.

    • 7

Put the place card in the slit and position it by the dish. You can also do this with a baby artichoke after trimming off the leaves.

    Artist's Easel

    • 8

Purchase your easel at a crafts store. Easels are also sometimes available at big box stores.

    • 9

Set the easel where you want the sign displayed.

    • 10

Put a paperweight on the back of the easel to secure it into position.
