Students can create a mural of their own using tiles. If you are able to take students to an actual wetland, you can have the students pick something out that interested them on the trip to the wetland. They can then paint a tile. When all tiles have been painted, they can be glued to the wall to create a mural. Make sure that the students are well aware of the different types of species that live in the wetland in order to have a diversity of tiles.
A wetland mural can be created by simply painting on a wall in the classroom. Each student can be assigned a specific aspect of a wetland; for instance, the land and water part of the wetland. The type of wetland, whether it is near an ocean or inland, will determine the types of species present in the wetland. Students can be assigned an animal and a position on the mural to paint the animal.
Create a wetland mural with the help of students using poster board and environmental magazines. Brainstorm with the students about the type of wetland for the mural. Place a pre-made background wetland mural on the wall. Allow the students to look through environmental magazines and choose types of animals, trees, plants, fish and birds that are found in that particular wetland. Each student can choose three to four pictures and cut them out. The pictures can be laminated and then placed on the mural using glue or Velcro.
Help the environment and create a wetland mural using recycled materials. Materials that can be used are large cardboard boxes to act as the canvas, scrap paper to create plant collages or animal collages, or cardboard to create plants and animals.
