Thread your embroidery needle with embroidery floss and snip at the desired length. Knot the end. Smaller embroidered areas will need less string than larger areas, so use your own judgment as needed. Embroidery floss comes with up to six strands braided together. Use all threads for a thick stitch or separate them for finer detail.
Embroider the canvas by pushing the needle through the canvas from behind. Pull the needle and thread until the knot rests firmly against the back of the canvas and secures the thread. Use a pattern for definite shapes or free-hand the embroidery for art with less definition.
Push the needle back through the canvas and pull until tight. Tiny squares in a grid pattern cover canvas; these come from the processing of the canvas. Use these squares as a guide as you create the embroidered shape. Repeat until you have the desired shape or pattern.
Pick up a bead with either your finger or a pair of tweezers. Tweezers will be more precise and make handling small beads easier.
Squeeze a small amount of glue onto the side of the bead that will rest against the canvas.
Press the bead firmly against the canvas. Hold until the glue and bead stay firm. Follow the recommendations on the glue container to determine the length of time to apply pressure on the bead.
