How to Insert the Inner Envelope Into the Outer Envelope

A well put together invitation gives an impression of elegance and inspires a sense of anticipation for the event. Many wedding invitations use two different envelopes; one inner envelope that contains the invitation, directions and response card and another larger envelope that houses the smaller one. When putting together this type of invitation, the envelopes must be put together properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Check that the smaller, inner envelope is stuffed and formally addressed using the guests name only. The flap to this envelope is left open and untucked.

    • 2

Turn the inner envelope, so that the flap is facing down and the guests name is facing up.

    • 3

Flip the larger, outer envelope so that the front address side is facing down and the backside with the flap is facing up. The flap must be unsealed and open.

    • 4

Slide the smaller envelope inside the larger one, so that its printed side is facing up toward the flap of the outer envelope. The flap of the inner envelope should face the front of the larger one, so that when the outer envelope is opened the recipients name will be immediately visible.

    • 5

Close the flap to the outer envelope and seal it.
