Use your regular pencil to write or draw the letters of your anagram on a blank sheet of white paper. Use your eraser to correct any mistakes and take your time to ensure every line is exactly how you want it before moving on to Step 2.
Trace over the pencil lines of your anagram with a thin, black marker and erase all pencil lines once you've finished tracing the image. Do not worry about shading or coloring at this point; just trace the basic outlines of the image.
Flip the paper over and trace the image onto the back with the thin, black marker. It is ideal to do this on a lighting desk so the lines will show through even more, but a normal desk under a bright lamp will also work. It is absolutely imperative that you create a reverse image of your anagram for the stencil so the tattoo will read frontward when applied to your skin. Some use carbon paper to reverse the image, some just flip and trace; it doesn't matter what you do, so long as you create a mirror image of your anagram.
Tape a piece of stencil paper over the reverse image of your anagram and trace over the marker lines using a tattoo stencil pencil. This pencil uses ink specifically designed to bond with skin, so it is very difficult to erase. If you make a mistake, start over on a fresh piece of stencil paper.
Peel away the tape once you've traced the entire reverse image onto stencil paper and give the stencil to your artist for inspection and application.
