The Cafe Press T-shirt design software allows users to upload and add their own artwork to the design and then add text and graphic items supplied by the company. Artwork must be in specific file types, but the original artwork can vary from photographic images to graphic blocks of large color. To begin with designers may upload an actual photograph and use that as the base of the design. This can be a picture of a sports team or an image of a city landmark. Then add text to the design square and your design is finished. Please note that Cafe Press limits your design area to the top center of the tee.
A well designed color photograph, such as the one displayed above, can make for a very attractive greeting card. Like everything else in the Cafe Press menu, there is a specific template for "design your own" greeting cards. Choose the appropriate orientation (vertical or horizontal) and upload your picture. Cafe Press also allows you to place a word message and/or logo.
If you are a talented painter or draftsperson, you can create a poster reproduction of your artwork. To begin you will need to make a high quality scan of the picture and create a jpeg, GIF or png file of the image. Be sure to size the image so it fits into the 11-by-17, 16-by-20 or 23-by-35 inch formats. If you want text or a border included on the paper print, insert it before the upload. Anything from a black and white ink drawing to an oil painting would make an attractive poster.
