Explain a problem that is happening at a national or international level. For example, you might discuss a problem that the country is having electing a new official or issues associated with overpopulation or food shortages. After explaining the issue, present ways in which the problem can be solved. You might talk about the policies of a particular candidate or well known figure, or you might suggest ways that the audience can help with the issue.
You might target a specific problem within a business that you are working for, or come into a business as a means of helping them solve their problems. For example, there might be issues within the work environment with how employees are treating one another or limited room for upward mobility within the corporation. Present specific ideas that the particular company can use to address these problems, including creating a support system and open communication in the workplace.
You could discuss administrative problems such as high dropout rates, lack of materials for the school to work with, or low test scores compared to the rest of the state. Present solutions to the administration as to how they can fix this problem and offer various resources they can consult. When speaking with students, you might tackle issues such as how to find financial aid for college and how to deal with the stress of homework and extracurricular activities.
A number of problems fall into this category including laws regarding smoking and cigarette advertising, domestic violence and problems at home, drug and alcohol abuse and issues with those who do not have homes or food. Pick a problem that is connected with your particular audience. Discuss ways that they can help to fix the issue for themselves and others, but also how they can support legislation that will help to address the issue as well.
