Construct a cartoon figure by drawing some basic shapes. Ovals can be used for the head, ribcage, and pelvis. Draw arms and legs with simple lines. Add form to the arms and legs by drawing cylinders over them. You can also depict limbs with stretched-out ovals.
Use small circles to represent hands, and cylinders or narrow ovals to depict fingers. Feet can be drawn as simple ovals with flat bottoms. Draw a solid outline in pencil around the whole figure. Decide what type of details you want to add to your cartoon figure. Make clothing conform to the figure's shape by drawing over it. Draw a hat and other accessories in the same way, making them adhere to the figure's form.
Erase the basic shape construction lines underneath the details. Outline the entire figure in black pen so that is a finished cartoon character ready to be copied and printed for a cartoon feature.
