Because the ink in Neopiko markers is transparent, you can create an unlimited number of colors by layering them over one another. For example, if you layer yellow over red, you make orange. Similarly, blue ink over red will create a purple color. This technique is particularly effective if you layer the colors while the ink is still wet because the wet inks blend together well. If you layer them after the ink dries, you can still make new colors but sometimes the pen strokes will be apparent.
Use water to create watercolor effects. First write or draw with a Neopiko marker on paper. Then dip a small paintbrush in water and blend it into the Neopiko ink. When you move the ink around it will have the appearance of watercolor paint. However, you must work fast because this technique only works while the ink is still wet.
Neopiko marker inks will blend together on a plastic palette. Simply dab two or more colors on your palette and mix them together. You can add a drop or two of water to create more ink, but the colors will be more intense if undiluted. You can substitute any clean, smooth plastic surface for a palette, such as lids from yogurt or cottage cheese containers.
Neopiko markers can be used on fabric. The colors are permanently fixed once they dry, making the markers a good choice to do custom designs on T-shirts. They also work well for drawing faces on fabric dolls and other craft applications. Once the ink has completely dried, the item will not fade when washed.
