How to Make Handprint Hearts

Creating works of art does not need to be an intensive task using stencils or specialized art supplies. Hand prints are something that you can turn into various works of art from Christmas wreaths to rays of sunshine. Little kids love to make art using their hand prints to show family members how much they care. This craft is appropriate any time of year, but is especially so for Valentine's day, when young children can use their hands to make hearts.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour washable paint on a paper plate or tray. Any colors will work, but if you want to make the hearts fit with Valentine's day, select shades of red and pink.

    • 2

Place your child's entire hand in the paint, pressing down to to get the palm and all five fingers covered.

    • 3

Hold the fingers together and encourage your child to press her hand down firmly on the paper.

    • 4

Use the same paint if you want the heart to be one color and create another hand impression slightly to the left of the first one with the fingers together, facing inward to meet with the fingers from the first impression.

    • 5

Turn it upside down to form the heart.
