Leaf through magazines to find pictures that excite you. Don’t settle for generic happy pictures of people lounging on a beach or winning the lotto. The more meaningful and specific the images are to your goals, the more effective your collage will be in helping you attain them. Don’t be limited by pictures in magazines – the entire Internet is swimming with potentially inspiring images. This is a great way to go, particularly if you have a color printer.
Next comes the assembly. Decide how you want your collage to look. Do you want magazine images taped on a piece of poster board? Would you rather use thumbtacks to affix images to your corkboard? You can also put your collage on your computer, by using the cut and paste function or a photo-editing program to make an electronic collage. Or, you can use your collection of images as wallpaper for your computer screen. Incorporate letters or words that inspire you and remind you of your goals.
At this point you can take one of two approaches with your collage. You can put it where you can see it every day as a reminder of what you’re hoping to achieve. Or you can store it out of sight somewhere, believing that the work of the collage was complete after you assembled it and now it’s time to “forget about it” and go about fulfilling your goal.
Whether you think of your collage as the equivalent of an inspirational poster, or whether you believe that it opens the door to powerful synchronicity that will help you manifest your goals, you will have to put in some hours to make your dreams happen. If your goal is to learn French and travel to Paris, start shopping around for language tapes and reduced-cost airline tickets. If your goal is to meet the person of your dreams, join an online dating site. The inspiration and law of attraction principles have their place, but there will always be an element of hard work and follow-through when you’re trying to accomplish something big.
