Adding a small starfish to your hair accessories will add a unique feel to your outfit and will be well-suited for days by the shore or beach weddings. Using a simple hair comb, glue on a single starfish. For a more detailed accessory, glue a large sea shell onto the comb, then piece on starfish around the edges of the shell. Don't layer the starfish on, or the weight will become too heavy for the piece. You can also add small pieces of sea glass or paint the starfish for added accents.
You can create a unique centerpiece for your home or beach-side wedding using starfish, sand and sea glass. Using a large cylindrical vase will allow you to add layers to your centerpiece. Place a layer of sand into the bottom of the vase and throw in sea glass and shells to add color. Place starfish in randomly to add detail to the piece. For additional beauty, add a thinner cylindrical vase to the middle of the vase for flowers to be placed in. If you are adding flowers, tie a ribbon around the base of the outer vase that compliments the flowers you'll be using.
Pillar candles can be boring if no details are added to them. To add a beach-like feel to any free-standing candle, place it in a dish filled with sand and small sea shells. Place starfish of differing sizes and colors around the base of the candle and glue or pin starfish into the candle itself in a random pattern. You can also tie a ribbon that matches the colors of your home onto the middle of the candle and hot glue a starfish over the seam of the ribbon.
Spend some time with your children while painting some starfish to look like holiday icons. For Christians, using paint to create a Santa on your starfish will provide entertainment and allow kids to express their creativity. If your family is not Christian, you can also paint the starfish to resemble snowmen or gingerbread men. Once the paint has dried, place a hole in the arm of the starfish that was used as the head and use ribbon or wire to create a loop for hanging your creative craft.
