How to Paint a Zebra Pattern

The key to drawing zebra patterns is to not make the lines too regular and to have the ends taper off. It helps to study a picture of a zebra before creating the pattern. Pay special attention to the distance between stripes and how the stripes taper at the end. Sometimes the stripes will end or blend into another stripe. Zebra patterns are found on a variety of mediums such as fabrics, T-shirts, jewelry and photo frames. Zebra patterns also may be painted on a wall or canvas.

Instructions

  1. Wall

    • 1

Start by cleaning the wall surface to remove any dirt and grime. Then paint on a primer to cover up any old paint and create a smooth working surface.

    • 2

Paint over the primer with off-white paint. Let dry and then paint a second coat.

    • 3

Create zebra stripes by lightly sketching out shapes using a pencil. Taper shapes off by having the end lines come closer together or have the shape end by blending in with another shape. Refer to a picture of a zebra for reference.

    • 4

Paint the stripe shapes a shade of black.

    Canvas
