How to Create Your Own Screen Printing Table

Screen printing is a form of art in which ink is pressed through the openings in a silk screen to create an image on the surface below. While it can be done on just about any flat surface, it is sometimes preferable to have a table made specifically for doing screen printing. If you are trying to make many screen prints in an efficient and accurate manner, creating a screen printing table will help you tremendously.

Things You'll Need

  • Table big enough for your largest screen prints
  • Staple gun
  • Industrial wool felt
  • Medium weight unbleached canvas

Instructions

    • 1

      Cut the industrial wool felt to the dimensions of your table's surface.

      Lay the wool felt on the top of your table.

    • 3

      Cut two pieces of canvas that are 3 inches wider and longer than your table's surface. Use the ruler to measure correctly.

      Place the two pieces of canvas over the wool felt you have laid on the table, allowing the extra fabric to hang over the edges.

      Staple one corner of the canvas that is hanging over the table's edge to the underside of the table's corner.

      Go to another corner of the table, and staple the canvas to its underside. Make sure that the fabric is pulled tight before stapling the second corner. You want the canvas to stretch tightly over the table's surface.

      Staple the remaining edges of the canvas to the underside of the table, until it is sufficiently secured. The table is now covered in canvas and wool felt, making it an ideal surface for screen printing.
