What masks are used in

1. Surgical Masks:

- Disposable, loose-fitting masks.

- Cover nose, mouth, and chin.

- Protect wearers from large respiratory droplets and splashes.

- Widely available and affordable.

2. N95 Respirators (or KN95, FFP2):

- Tight-fitting, disposable respirators.

- Filter at least 95% of particles 0.3 microns or larger.

- Offer higher level of protection than surgical masks.

- Should be fitted properly to ensure a good seal.

3. Cloth Masks:

- Fabric-based, reusable masks.

- Cover nose, mouth, and chin.

- Effectiveness varies depending on material, design, and fit.

- Best used with multiple layers of fabric and a snug fit.

4. Elastomeric Respirators:

- Tight-fitting, reusable respirators.

- Made of silicone or rubber, with replaceable cartridges or filters.

- Offer high level of protection, similar to N95 respirators.

- Require proper fit testing to ensure a good seal.

5. Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPRs):

- Head-mounted, battery-powered devices that provide filtered air.

- Covers the entire head, eliminating the need for a perfect seal.

- Offer highest level of protection, but are more expensive.

Note: Mask effectiveness can be improved by proper use, such as ensuring a good fit and avoiding touching the mask's front. Guidelines for mask use may vary depending on specific public health recommendations.
