Instructions

    • 1

Protect your paintbrushes by utilizing properly made storage cases. If painting on location, enlist a canvas over-the-shoulder carrying case for long brushes. At home, consider a brush case for protecting your good brushes. Find a case with snug compartments in varying sizes to keep brushes secure.

Think about where and how you want to store your paintbrushes. To keep your brushes free of heat damage avoid placing them in bright sun and near heating units.

    • 3

Provide a well-ventilated area for your paintbrushes. This will keep them free of particles, such as dust and bacteria.

    • 4

Display and store brushes with the handles down and the bristles upward. If using cases with pockets, jars or containers, always have the brush facing up to get the most air, as well as prevent them from becoming misshapen.

    • 5

Consider setting up a circular multi-brush holder close to your easel for easy access while you are painting. It's also handy storage for brushes and tools that need to be placed upright for drying purposes.

Make the best use of your space by getting brush tubes. Little plastic cylinders are designed to hold many brushes at one time, and are available at Blick Art Materials online (see Resources below). You can house these in boxes or place them in decorative, fabric-lined wicker baskets for pretty storage.

Obtain a canvas or nylon paint supply case. This is ideal for properly storing and organizing paintbrushes and art supplies for your children. It's a useful way to keep items in one place for the next paint session. Get water-resistant storage for spillage mishaps.
