How to Recyle Art Projects

Recycling art projects is great for the environment and something parents can do with their kids to teach them about natural resources. Many art projects are composed of paper, metal and glass. Each of these can be recycled. Children's art projects may include metal and clay sculptures, paper-based sculptures and cutouts. Most of these projects are recyclable. Recycling teaches children the value of these resources and adds a moral to an artistic lesson.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect your art project and mentally separate it into glass, paper and metal. Some parts can be taken apart and reused immediately. Note these items and use the scissors when necessary to keep interfaces between materials neat and clean as you remove them.

    • 2

Immediately remove clay, beads, bows and boxes for use in later projects. If they are dirty, clean them after removal from the body of the project. If your project does not have any of these elements, go to the next step.

    • 3

Detach glass and metal elements from the project. Put glass pieces into the glass recycling bin and metal items into the metal recycling bin. If there is no glass or metal in your project, go to the next step.

    • 4

Remove the paper from the project for recycling. Damaged paper or paper covered heavily in paint or glue may not be accepted for recycling. Review the laws in your area. Place what can be recycled into the paper recycling bin.

    • 5

Move the recycling bins out to the curb for recycling and put unacceptable pieces in the garbage.
