What is Royal conservatory?

The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), formerly known as The Royal Conservatory of Music and The Royal Conservatory of Music, is a non-profit educational institution dedicated to music and dance education, performance and research. It was founded in 1886 as the Toronto Conservatory of Music and received its royal charter in 1947. The RCM is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The RCM offers a wide range of programs and courses for students of all ages and abilities. These include early childhood music education, instrumental and vocal lessons, theory and composition courses, jazz studies, and professional development programs. The RCM also offers a number of degree programs, including the Bachelor of Music, the Master of Music, and the Artist Diploma.

The RCM is home to a number of world-renowned musicians and teachers. These include pianists Anton Kuerti and André Laplante, violinists James Ehnes and Pinchas Zukerman, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The RCM also has a number of ensembles-in-residence, including the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, the Royal Conservatory Chamber Players, and the Royal Conservatory Jazz Ensemble.

The RCM is a major contributor to the cultural life of Toronto and Canada. It presents over 1,000 concerts and recitals each year and its graduates can be found performing in orchestras, ensembles, and opera companies around the world. The RCM is also a leader in music education research, and its faculty members are regularly published in scholarly journals and books.

In 2020, the RCM was ranked the No. 1 music school in Canada and the No. 11 music school in the world by QS World University Rankings.
