Unscrew the lid on the incense burner. The bottles are capped so that the ends of incense sticks can be held in place. Put the bottle on an even surface.
Grip the incense stick in your right hand and light the tip with a lighter. Keep the tip of the stick over the flame. Hold the incense stick in this position for five seconds. Shake the stick to douse the flame. The top of the incense stick should glow bright orange.
Put the non-coated part of the stick in the lid's underside.The incense stick will release smoke through vents from the bottle's sides. The ashes that drop will settle on the bottom of the bottle.
