In the play Hamlet who are gertrude and Claudius?

Gertrude is Hamlet's mother and the queen of Denmark. She married Claudius, Hamlet's uncle, shortly after King Hamlet's death. Claudius is Hamlet's stepfather and the king of Denmark. He killed King Hamlet in order to become king and marry Gertrude.
