Cut a thin piece of cardboard or card stock that fits around your head or the head of the person you are trying to outfit. The paper should be at least 7 inches in height and 23 to 26 inches in length for a good-sized crown. Err on the side of making too large a crown, as you can always cut it down to size if necessary.
Fit the cardboard/card stock around your head or your model's head so it fits comfortably and cut off any excess length.
Use scissors to create a triangle/zigzag pattern around the top of the crown, though rounded edges may also be created depending on the design you are going for.
Paint the crown yellow or gold or use gold gift wrap to cover the entire crown. Glue the gift wrap on the crown and cut off any excess if you choose that method.
Decorate the crown with faux gems of assorted sizes and shapes. Stagger gems in a desired pattern or encrust the entire crown in jewels, glitter and sequins for a prop that dazzles. Leave at least a half-inch of the end pieces of the crown blank for gluing it together.
Bring the two end pieces of the crown together around your head or the wearer's head and glue one section on top of the other. Allow it to dry before use.
