Obi: The kimono is fastened with an obi, a wide sash that wraps around the body and ties in the back. Geisha obi are typically very elaborate and colorful and can have different knots and folds, depending on the occasion.
Haori: In colder weather, geisha wear a haori, a short kimono-like jacket, often made from a thicker fabric or lined with fur for warmth.
Tabi: Traditional Japanese socks called tabi are worn alongside zori and often come in white color.
Zori: Geisha wear traditional footwear called zori, which are thonged sandals made from wood or leather. They have elevated platforms and are generally white in color with fabric straps.
Accessories: Geisha also wear various accessories to complete their look, including hair ornaments, such as kanzashi or hairpins, and decorative combs; their hairstyles are always meticulously arranged, often in ornate up-dos, secured with traditional hair accessories. Makeup and face paint (oshiroi) with bright red lips are also customary elements of the geisha appearance.
