How to Make a Talent Show Proposal

A talent show is a staged event performed in front of a live audience where contestants with all sort of skills, such as singing, music, dancing, comedy or acting, perform, and then are judged for their achievements based on audience appreciation. If you'd like to organize your own talent show, you need to write a proposal that outlines several areas including information about the venue, the people you want to invite and advertising that needs to be created.

Instructions

    • 1
An auditorium stage is a great venue for a talent show.

Write a clear focus for the talent show. Whether your aim is to gather a lot of high school children for a battle of the bands, or bring several talented people together for a show in the local park, your proposal should start with a paragraph about your endeavors. Write about the overall plan, where you would like the show to be held, how many people are expected to attend and participate and the date and time of the event. This first paragraph has to be persuasive to the reader, so you might include why this talent show is needed and why it could receive a lot of attention.

Write about the type of equipment and preparation you will need for the show. An outdoor event will likely need larger, more broadly-reaching speakers, several chairs and tables and perhaps some type of protection from the elements. An indoor venue, such as a theater or an auditorium, will usually have a lot of the equipment that is already used for stage plays. Consider the amount of money that will be needed in case you have to get extra equipment and make sure to note these expenses in this section.

Cleaning up after a successful show.

Write a few paragraphs about the entire implementation of the show, from start to finish. For instance, if you're getting together a battle of the bands for a high school, you'll want to write about your plans to contact bands' members, the availability and set-up of the stage, the advertising that will be used to publicize the event, the pricing and seating arrangement for the audience attending, food, security and safety protocols and cleanup and tear-down procedures afterward. Your proposal needs to transmit a visual image of the show, and when you detail everything like this, it shows your determination and enthusiasm.

    • 4

List how many people you'll need for the event and what jobs they'll have. If you're part of a committee that is organizing the talent show, write a little about the organization and how the readers can find more information. List group headings for areas like advertising, security and stage crew and write down the names and contact information of the people involved in each section. Showing how organized and managing you can be with other people is a plus.

Review and edit your proposal before sending it out to others. You've worked hard to bring this show to fruition. Don't ruin it by turning in scraps of paper with typographical errors, bad grammar or unpleasant or unprofessional language. A proposal should be business-like but friendly, well-organized, accurate and detailed.
