Early life and career
Diplo was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and grew up in Miami, Florida. He began DJing in high school, and later attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in college, he co-founded the record label Mad Decent with Low Budget. Mad Decent would later become a successful independent label, releasing music by artists such as Baauer, Flosstradamus, and Dillon Francis.
Major Lazer
In 2008, Diplo co-founded the electronic dance music trio Major Lazer with Switch and Jillionaire. Major Lazer has released four studio albums, including Peace Is the Mission (2015), which features collaborations with artists such as Ariana Grande, Ellie Goulding, and Pusha T. The group has also won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award and three MTV Video Music Awards.

In addition to his work with Major Lazer, Diplo has also released numerous solo albums and EPs. He has also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Madonna, M.I.A., and Skrillex.
