What happens in the last scene of play all worlds a stage?

The play ends with Prospero breaking his magic staff, burying his books of magic, and releasing Ariel, freeing him from service. He has also given up his dukedom and plans to return to Milan with the rest of the characters. Prospero then asks the audience for forgiveness and asks them to applaud him.
