How did shine down start there career?

Shinedown was formed in 2001 in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist Brent Smith, guitarist Jasin Todd, bassist Brad Stewart, and drummer Barry Kerch. The band's name was derived from a quote by Mahatma Gandhi, "In a gentle way, you can shake the world."

Shinedown's first major-label album, Leave a Whisper, was released in 2003 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album's lead single, "Fly from the Inside", reached number five on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The band's second album, Us and Them, was released in 2005 and was also certified platinum by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Save Me", reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Shinedown's third album, The Sound of Madness, was released in 2008 and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Devour", reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band's fourth album, Amaryllis, was released in 2012 and was certified platinum by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Bully", reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Shinedown's fifth album, Threat to Survival, was released in 2015 and was certified gold by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Cut the Cord", reached number six on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band's sixth album, Attention Attention, was released in 2018 and was certified gold by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Get Up", reached number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
