Who invented acting?

There is no definitive answer to this question, as acting is a form of art that has been practiced across many cultures and civilizations throughout history. However, Thespis of Icaria is often considered to be the first actor in history. Thespis lived in ancient Greece in the 6th century BC and was a prominent performer in early religious dramas. He is credited with stepping out from the chorus in these performances and reciting monologues, thus making him the first actor in the modern sense of the word.
