Gotianco was born in Manila, Philippines, in 1983. He studied at the Ateneo de Manila University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in management engineering. After graduating, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.
In 2009, Gotianco founded Spire Ventures. The firm has since invested in over 50 startups, including Grab, Bukalapak, and PayMaya. In 2017, Gotianco co-founded Kickstart Ventures with Danny Le. The fund has since invested in over 20 startups, including Nium, Zilingo, and Carro.
In addition to his business career, Gotianco is also a philanthropist. He is the co-founder of the Gotianun Foundation, which supports education, healthcare, and community development projects in the Philippines. He is also a board member of the Ateneo de Manila University and the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Gotianco has been recognized for his contributions to the business community. He was named one of the "40 Under 40" most influential people in the Philippines by Forbes magazine in 2017. He was also named one of the "100 Most Influential Filipinos in the World" by The Filipino Channel in 2018.
