Who is Brandon desmyter?

Brandon Desmyter (born Brandon Matthew Desmyter, 1981) is a South African singer and actor who rose to fame as a member of the South African boy band Eden in the late 1990s.

Eden was formed in May 1998 alongside of three bandmates: Jason Hartman, Garth Taylor and Brad Klynsmith. With their debut album "One" (Released December 1998), Eden achieved the highest first week sales in South African music history. It was certified Diamond five times in South Africa and 1 million copies were sold worldwide.

The band split in 2001, with band members stating they wanted to pursue their solo careers.

Career highlights

Desmyter had his first television appearance at age 14 on the South African TV series "The Wild and Wonderful World of Animals" hosted by wildlife film maker Ian Player.

In 1998 he was discovered as the lead vocalist for the boyband Eden by a music producer he met while working as a busboy at the popular Rosebank nightspot 'The Blue Room' in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Solo career

After the split of Eden, Desmyter focused on his acting career. He starred as the lead role of 'Jack Morgan' in the movie "The 3 Way", which was the first South African romantic comedy produced by an all black production company.

Desmyter also starred as the lead role of 'James' in the feature film "The Stickup".

In 2002 he released a solo dance single called "Give Me a Chance" which was the 5th most added song on the South African radio stations.

In 2003, Desmyter made several guest appearances on multiple South African TV series including "Egoli" and "Zero Tolerance".

Desmyter had lead roles in the stage productions "The Mystery Of Irma Vep" and "The Fantasticks" in 2004. Both ran as off-broadway productions.

In early 2005, Desmyter's second single, "In The Darkness" made it into the top ten on the South African radio stations.

Desmyter also made guest appearances on the South African TV series Generations in 2006.

In March 2010, Desmyter released a new single "This Day" followed by a full length album "Into the Light" in June. The albums first single "Into the Light" went to number one in the Metro FM Top 40 chart.

Desmyter relocated to the United States permanently in July 2010 to embark on a new direction in his solo music career. He recorded and released his first Christmas single "The Reason for the Season" in November 2010.

Desmyter's acting career in the United States began with several national commercials such as Ford, Chrysler, Bud Light, Coors Light, AT&T, and many others.

In June 2011, Desmyter appeared on the Fox TV series "The 9" as a background actor.

In the fall of 2011, Desmyter played the lead role of 'Danny Bailey' in the short psychological thriller "The Dark Place" which has won several short film awards in the US.

In April 2012, Desmyter landed the role of 'Jake Morgan' in the movie "Fatal Call".

In 2013 Desmyter made guest appearances on the CW TV series "90210" and was credited as 'Brandon Myst'.

Desmyter continued recording and releasing new music throughout 2014.

In 2015 Desmyter landed a role in the upcoming movie "The Perfect Guy" set for a release in early 2016.

In 2016, he also starred in the hit movie "Boo! A Madea Halloween".
