Who is Kevin Cosgrove?

Kevin Cosgrove is an American lawyer, politician, and real estate developer. He served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 15th district from 1993 to 2011.

Early life and education

Cosgrove was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on August 13, 1964. He graduated from Saint Francis School in 1982, and then went on to attend Providence College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1986. After graduating from college, Cosgrove worked for the Connecticut General Assembly as a legislative aide. He then attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1992.

Political career

Cosgrove was first elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1992, at the age of 28. He represented the 15th district, which includes parts of the towns of East Hartford, Glastonbury, and South Windsor. Cosgrove served in the House of Representatives for a total of 18 years, and during his time in office he was a member of several committees, including the Appropriations Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Public Safety Committee. He was also the House Chair of the Transportation and Public Safety committees.

In 2010, Cosgrove ran for the Connecticut State Senate, but he was defeated by the incumbent, Democrat Melody Currey. After his defeat, Cosgrove announced that he would not seek re-election to the House of Representatives. He left office in 2011.

Business career

After leaving politics, Cosgrove became a real estate developer. He is the president and CEO of Cosgrove Development Corporation, which is based in East Hartford. Cosgrove Development Corporation has developed a number of residential and commercial properties in Connecticut.

Personal life

Cosgrove is married and has two children. He lives in East Hartford.

Awards and recognition

Cosgrove has received a number of awards and recognition for his work in public service and real estate development. He has been named one of the "Top 40 Under 40" business leaders in Connecticut by the Hartford Business Journal. He has also been recognized by the Connecticut Association of Realtors for his work in affordable housing.
